One city
Halifax rewards two nights on foot. One night is mostly the arrival.
Guide
Halifax is not the Atlantic provinces. It is the largest hotel stage. The island, the river capital, and the hub city of Moncton ask for different stays.
Destination overview
Halifax is a peninsula, a waterfront, and a ferry to Dartmouth. The airport is in Enfield, not at the harbour. Cruise days change the downtown pavement.
Charlottetown is a compact capital. Prince Edward Island is the rest of the island: north-shore summers, Summerside, and the bridge. Do not make the capital stand in for Cavendish, or the reverse.
Moncton is a bilingual crossroads with Dieppe beside it. Fredericton is a smaller river capital. If you only have one New Brunswick night, decide whether you want the hub or the capital. They are not the same hour of driving.
Weather rewrites ferries and moods. Build a slack evening into any island plan. Fog is not a failure of the hotel.
Neighbourhoods
Halifax rewards two nights on foot. One night is mostly the arrival.
A car changes PEI from a downtown into a shore. Without a car, stay in Charlottetown and be honest about the limit.
Moncton is often the sensible sleep on a longer Maritime drive. Say so, and choose it on purpose.
Season
Quieter, colder, and a real season. Some seasonal businesses sleep. Cities do not close.
Slow opening, especially on the island.
The season people mean. Downtowns and shores are busiest.
A strong time on the coast if you like fewer festivals and earlier dark.
Choosing
Pick the water you want to see, then the town that actually sits on it.
Read the airport page only if the first or last night is a flight night.
Questions
No. It is in Enfield. Use the Halifax airport guide for that night.
You can see Charlottetown. The national park shores are a different project.
Do not plan on that model. Read the all-inclusive page for the distinction.
